Taboo : The Teaser

“There. It’s perfect Baby.” Irie said adjusting my tie.  My tuxedo fit just right.

“Thank you.  You look so beautiful.  Are you ready?  Man, I can’t believe this day finally came.  I guess it’s been a long time coming though, huh?” I asked, all of my words somewhat running together.  I didn’t know why I was so nervous.

“It has been a long time coming, and even still, you couldn’t begin to imagine how much I love you Kenzi.” She whispered in my left ear holding my face in her hands like she’d done so many times before over the 10 years we’d known each other.

“I’m sure I have an idea.”  I countered pulling away slightly to look in to her eyes while planting kisses on edges of her palms.

“Irie, come on baby.  It’s time.” I could hear her mother say through the door to the beach house bedroom.  She figured her daughter needed these last few moments to herself before she walked down the aisle.

“I’m coming mama.  Just give me one more second to get myself together.” She responded exhaling deeply.

“Alright.  It’s your day Baby girl.  Just don’t make us wait all night now.  You know how we old folks get after a while.” She said with a chuckle.  Her mother was older, but damn sure still fine.

Irie was beautiful standing in front of me; deep ebony complexion, face clean, and bare.  The lavender dress she wore complimented better than anything I’d ever seen graze her skin.  She smelled of ginger and honey infused vanilla and only stood only an inch and a half taller than me in her heels.

“You really do look handsome in that tux Kenzi.” She said as I adjusted my tie one final time.

“You still know how to make me smile.”

“That’s my job.” She said with a wink.

“Well, it’s about that time.  You ready?” I said with a sigh.

“Yes.  Just one more thing.” She said grabbing me by the lapels on my tuxedo jacket and pulling me within an inch of her face.

I tasted her lips in my mind before they ever hit mine.  Before I knew what had happened,
honey flavored kissed infiltrated my senses and for a moment I forgot that I was just her best man.  Then again, despite the fact that I’d be watching my best friend marry another woman, we both knew we were always meant to be lovers.
